Antiracist Family Day is coming up! Plus Tabitha's speaking at the Marketing to Men Summit
Join us at one of these events
So much around us is pretty crummy right now. From ICE harassing immigrants, federal troops deployed in cities across the country, book bans and bans on DEI, a rise in political violence, school shootings, and more. It would make sense if you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Add in the usual day-to-day parenting stuff (yes, we italicized stuff) and it can be a lot for us parents and caregivers.
We’re here to tell you that whatever you are feeling in this moment is a-ok. Sit with it, examine it and let it move through you at the pace it wants to. These are scary times we are living in with our families.
Though so much is dark at this moment, we do come to you with a bit of hope and maybe a dash or two of joy with our kiddos.
Antiracist Family Day
If you live in NYC, we’re joining the Brooklyn Public Library on Oct 9th 2-5pm for Antiracist Family Day, a FREE fun afternoon centering justice, joy and art at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum.
There’ll be story-time, book giveaways, arts and activities, music performances and more. We will lead an art build, where kids and adults get to make posters and signs about fairness, equity, antiracism, and building a world where everyone can be free. Families will get to practice age-appropriate antiracist strategies and explore simple ways kids and families can make a positive difference in their communities.
When we talk about the 6 Building Blocks of Antiracist ParentingTM , we often stress the importance of “Intentional Environment”. Seeking out community activities that center antiracism, whether it be IRL (in real life) or online, is a major part of bringing lessons on antiracism to life for our little ones. So don’t miss this delightful day that we always look forward to every year!
We’ll also have a few of the 6 Building Blocks of Antiracist ParentingTM fridge magnets to give away to the first 40 people who visit our art build so come early!
Marketing to Men Summit
Tabitha here: I’ll be speaking about a topic really dear to me as a person who tries to strive for antiracist parenting AND who’s raising a young boy with values of healthy masculinity. I’ll be at the inaugural Marketing to Men Summit on 9/16 at 11am. The in-person seats are limited but you can register to join virtually for free here.
That’s it from us for today. Take good care, okay? Love up on your kids.
Tabitha & Adam
I will be there and doing the story time :)
